Not much happening here on the mountain. We’ve had a couple of nice days and a couple of rainy days. Lane has been getting many of the seeds that she has ordered from those catalogs she talked about earlier. Here is a list of some of the seeds lane has ordered some of which she had never grown before;
From Burpee lane ordered two types of cucumbers, lemon, which is the size and color of a large lemon with a sweet flavor and is an heirloom variety. She speaks of looking forward to growing these. The other is called pickle bush that she got to grow in pots. Lane also got a new pepper variety which is also an heirloom called hot lemon pepper. Lane says it sounds like she has a trend going with yellows doesn’t it. She also got a new sweet corn called silver choice which is supposed to be real sweet. Lane says since I am partial to white corn she ordered it for me.
From R. H. Shumway lane ordered a white pattypan squash that she had never grown before but she had heard that they are really good. We’ll see says lane.
Lane and I both love spinach so we’re going to try a new variety called
Lane also ordered a couple of different tomatoes; Mr. stripey which we both like. It is a yellow tomato with red stripes and low acid. She also got another variety called homestead that is a medium she believes will be real good, of course who would expect her to order one she didn’t expect to be good.
She says she can’t wait to try these new seeds and that’s the end of her story.
