There’s not much going on here on the mountain. We’ve had an excess of four inches of rain here in the last few days so there’s not a lot that can be done. I have been cutting and splitting firewood and because of lane’s schedule and the rain she is behind on the wood stacking. Lane has been inside a lot this past week looking at and reading her gardening catalogs. Here is a list of a few good web sites to help you thru the winter doldrums. If you like heirloom vegetables the way lane does here are some of her favorite web sites;

Burpee.com

Rareseeds.com

Johnnyseeds.com

Tomatogrowers.com

Thompsonandandmorgan.com

Or you can find loads of catalogs for plants and garden supplies at mailordergardening.com

Now is the time to prune trees and shrubs while they are dormant. Its also good to cut back on feeding house plants and then begin again in spring. Lane hopes this helps.

  1. Hey you two. Hope you have a great holiday. I am back in SC and Doug will arrive in 2 days. We really got interested in gardening again on our visit. Another good seed catalog is Totally Tomatoes. The name is deceiving because they actually have more than tomatoes in the catalog.
