seems this time of year isn't useful for active gardening. lane is not in the mood to write anything at the moment and to keep my hand in it i add these thoughts and accompanying photo.
the greenhouse wasn't insulated as funds were thin and time had expired on that project for the winter.
winter is chain saw and firewood time. fewer snakes, bugs and its easier to get about in the woods. insulation will be required in the greenhouse and i may add some heat sinks when the plans present themselves. current thoughts extend to some flat black water containers for heat retention and if somewhat flat ease of heat release. this would make for passive heat without fire or electric to make it so.
we are working on a garden bed extension. we are changing the area of the dog lot to do this. the dog lot for our two german shepard females surrounds the garden on most of three sides. this helps keep bambi from dining upon lane's tomatoes and other such vegetable items. the photo from last summer shows the fence; its the skis you see in the background.
i was a food and beverage manager at a local ski resort. the skis were rentals being thrown in the dumpster. i thought it would be nice to consider some other sort of use for them. when combined with inexpensive stock woven wire, and woven into it, they keep the dogs in, most of the time. they also provide a converstation stimulus for the curious.
